How do you maintain weight loss on your own? This week the educational kit that is companion to the upcoming Weight of the Nation programming arrived.
Some quick stats from the kit that may interest and inspire you.
People who complete intensive weight-loss programs lose approximately 10% of their body weight. Once they stop the program, most people tend to regain the weight they lost – about 1/3 within a year and almost all of it within 5 years.
The National Weight Control Registry has been tracking more than 5,000 people who have lost at least 30 pounds and kept it off for more than a year. Of these registry participants:

I’m in at 4 of 6. I only exercise about 30 to 40 minutes a day lately. I’ve been feeling very tired. My vitamin D levels were down, and I’m hoping a supplement and some sunshine will help that. Breakfast is the other sticking point. I’ve been finding that if I only eat a banana & green tea with my morning pills at 7am and delay eating my rice and broccoli until around 10am, I am much less hungry thoughout the day. I do have 2 – 12oz cups of decaf coffee between 8am and 10 am with 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk each. That doesn’t make much sense, but it’s something that has increased my success lately. I’m not really hungry first thing in the morning, and I find I’d rather have the sleep than to eat a big meal. I can grab the banana on the way out the door and then get busy with my day. It seems to be working well so far and my blood sugars are better than ever. But then, I’ve lived my whole life on the edge of the bell curve – so I’m not surprised that I’m not in the majority here, either!!!
TD, excellent example of playing out your own best practices within dietary plan. Your example of individualizing is interesting. And 4/6 is lots of stars on the chart!
